Letter from the Town Building Inspector Regarding the Craft Room Exterior Doors
An excerpt from a letter written to the Association from the Town of Florence Senior Building Inspector/Code Compliance, regarding the craft room doors at the Union Center:
With regard to the inspection of the Sun City recreational building’s means of egress:
“The required exits for this building, located at the ends of the corridors and assembly areas, are equipped with panic bar latches as required by code: they are labeled with illuminated exit signs and are also of sufficient width to meet the building’s occupant load. They are currently compliant with our fire and building codes. The panic hardware must remain operable from the inside while the building is occupied.
The secondary doors, located within certain individual rooms are not calculated in the means of egress, nor are they labeled or equipped with code compliant hardware and therefore are not required to remain unlocked while the building is occupied."

Remember to Call to Schedule Your Bulk Trash Pick-Up
The Town of Florence is asking for your help with the placement of bulk trash. New rules for the placement of bulk trash were recently updated that will help to minimize the clutter in our neighborhoods and enhance the bulk trash services that the Florence residents receive.
Effective January 1, 2014, all Florence residents must call to schedule their bulk trash pick-up. Residents can simply call (520) 868-7677 and provide the Town with the address of the pick-up. Please call no later than 24 hours in advance of the pick-up. If no call is made to the Town to schedule the pick-up of the bulk trash, then the bulk trash will not be picked-up.
Any loose items (leaves, weeds, limbs, etc) must be bagged, boxed, or bundled. Loose items cannot be placed on the ground. Tree limbs must be cut in lengths of 4 feet and bundled. Larger items can be placed on the ground for pick-up. All items should be organized in a way that allows the people responsible for picking up the bulk trash to easily grab the materials and move on to the next pick-up. If loose items are not properly bagged, boxed or bundled, then the bulk trash will not be picked up.
Bulk trash can only be placed out 48 hours in advance of the scheduled service. When residents wait to place out their bulk trash items to two days before the bulk trash is picked up, it minimizes the clutter in our neighborhoods. If bulk trash is placed out too early, then the Town may issue a fine.
Bulk trash is picked up once a month for every Town resident with an active trash account. Bulk trash is picked-up on the first Wednesday of every month in the Florence Core and Florence Gardens areas. Bulk trash is picked-up on the second Wednesday of each month in the Anthem area.
For questions about your trash, recycling or bulk trash services, or to schedule a bulk trash pick-up, please call the Town of Florence at (520) 868-7677. More information is available on the Town’s website at florenceaz.gov/trash.

Help Make Your Neighborhood Safer by Reporting Streetlight Outages
Have you noticed a streetlight outage in your neighborhood? You can help to get this repaired quickly by contacting APS through their toll free phone number. Simply call (800) 253-9407 and press 5 to talk to an APS representative. APS asks that you provide either a pole number (found on the streetlight) or a street address so they can identify the streetlight that needs repair.
The Town of Florence Public Works Department and APS regularly scan the neighborhoods for streetlight outages. However, assistance from members of the community will decrease the number of burnt out streetlights and help to make our neighborhoods safer.
