NOMINATE YOUR DANCING STAR TODAY!
On Saturday, February 8 we will roll out the red carpet for our very own “Dancing with Our Stars” Performance. This is going to be the best event to ever hit Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch. There is much to do to get prepared for this amazing dinner show.
First and most important, we must select 6 dancers (3 male & 3 female) to compete. They will each be paired with dancers from the performing company and will rehearse with them for 1 hour a day for 5 days prior to the big night. They will perform a 90 second ballroom dance routine.
The nominations are open NOW! The goal is to have 12-15 nominees no later than December 1. Remember to consider our winter residents who aren’t back yet. An audition will occur in December or early January (depending on the nominees) and 6 dancers will be chosen to compete on February 8. Each contestant will be assigned one of the following dances to learn and perform in the show: Swing, Paso Doble, Hustle, Salsa, Cha Cha, Charleston, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Night-Club 2-Step.
When we have our nominees a meeting will be held to explain in detail what this will entail. In the meantime, start looking around for your dancers. Whether they represent your neighborhood, your golf group or a club don’t hesitate to nominate someone you want to bring home the crown.
There are Nomination Forms at the front desk. Please stop by and complete a form for each nominee. Anyone with professional dance background is ineligible for obvious reasons. Get these nominations in by Monday, December 2 – and don’t forget about the winter residents! One of them may be our overall Sun City Dance Star!
